Just some concept doodles of ideas made with MisterMech in our musings about what might have happened with the Crystal Empire in the Fallout Equestria universe.
Personally I really like our ideas for the Crystal Ghouls. Not flesh eating zombies, their natural relation to crystals instead causing an overgrowth of the crystallic texture as it absorbed the radioactive balefire, creating these absentminded undead who’ll just wander about mindlessly with the occasional repeated phrase such as ‘lovely weather today…’ still stuck in the moment before their death.
They are not aggressive, but the overcharging of their crystal structure makes them unstable and dangerous to be around, especially if you disrupt them and cause any sort of stress. An explosion caused by an overcharged Crystal Ghoul can be deadly if you stand too close as sharp crystal shards suddenly shoots in all directions, to impale any obstacle in their way.
With the additional risk of Crystal Infection, should you survive contact with the flying shards.
No known cure of the infection beyond removal of the infected flesh before it spreads further. It crystalizes the very cells of the skin and flesh, coats the inner organs until they stop functioning. Once dead the victim will rise and act like a Crystal Ghoul, not as aggressive as regular ghouls but not fully like a Crystal Ghoul either. They do not overcharge or shatter like Crystal Ghouls, nor do their crystalized parts regenerated the same way. Making them easier and safer to get rid of. But a horrible fate to meet as the victim.
Whut ya guys think?
