Description:

Starlight and Trixie: Living Room Relaxation

Hey folks, thank-you for checking out my very first piece of MLP that I have somehow managed put together in Blender!

I spent the last 2-3 weeks following Blenderguru’s Beginner series on YouTube explaining the basics on how to use Blender; the result of which is wherein you learn how to make a Donut and Coffee cup in the software and make your own render. As a homage I had to place that very render on the wall behind Trixie and Starlight.

By some miracle a lot of what Blenderguru taught actually sank in, and I thought for a test run I would try making my first MLP piece! I started with a few models from the NexGen collection, picked a simple pose for the two characters and I gradually built the scene up from there.

I tell you what you don’t learn the ins and outs of 3D art without trying to make your own yourself! Learning how to pose the models, placing objects in the scene, scaling etc… I really do now appreciate how much effort goes into making 3d artwork, it can be a time consuming process but it was a heck of a lot of fun!

Its not perfect as I’m still learning how everything works but I’m actually stunned at how semi-decent it turned out so I thought I would share with you folks, I have several ideas and I hope to explore them shortly in due course :)

I would like to thank the NexGen team who have taken great pains to convert the SFM models over to Blender to be used.

I Would also like to thank hunterz263 who has been instrumental in me encouraging me to take the plunge learning blender; and giving me friendly advice along the way helping with commands and the UI. (His art is pretty great too!)

I would also like to thank the numerous talented 3D artists who have inspired me over the years with their artwork giving me potential ideas for my own material: AnthroponiesSFM, Daveman1000, TrailsSFM… to name a humble few. You know who you are!
