Nickname(s): Royal Noble Splendor (full name), Roy Age: 16 Birthday: March 15 Parents: Rarity and Fancy Pants Siblings: Radiant Jewel (older sister), Primrose (biological half-sister) Future Spouse: Paint Swirl Children: Amethyst Glow (future daughter), Airbrush (future daughter), Color Palette (future daughter), Mozart (future son) Personality:
Royal Splendor has the benevolence expected of a child of generosity, but it seems his sister got every bit of confidence and left none for him. He is nearing adulthood and STILL has no cutie mark, which means he lacks self-love in most forms. Roy is very emotionally dependent on other ponies, and has trouble expressing himself through anything but tears or other displays of pity. This is especially so when it comes to his crush best friend, Paint Swirl, who is similarly shy but way more emotionally expressive and independent. Roy does, however, have a heart of gold, able to put his anxieties aside when it comes to the wants and needs of others. Even then, this can backfire as his kindness is easily taken advantage of. However, this doesn’t deter Roy from continuing to share his kindness no matter what. Relationships:
Growing up with two confident, high-class parents, Roy finds it hard to feel like he truly belongs with either of them. This is especially true with his father Fancy Pants; while he is prideful of his family, Roy has noticed that he speaks with a hint of hesitation—or even shame—whenever he speaks of his son to his fellow elites. Rarity, even with her good intentions, quite often becomes more hurtful than helpful as she doesn’t always understand what Roy is going through.
Roy is quite close with his sister Radiant Jewel, even if they don’t have a lot in common. While Jewel is just as confident as their parents, she doesn’t use it to make her brother feel worse about himself. She’s the one who does the social heavy-lifting, carrying a conversation so he doesn’t have to. Roy appreciates her for it, but it doesn’t exactly help him learn to be independent. Even then, their relationship isn’t all perfect as Jewel can be quite overbearing when it comes to Roy’s love life. When it comes to Roy’s half-sister Primrose, it seems they live in two different worlds since she’s a Canterlot elite. When they do interact, they’re more like acquaintances than siblings.
Sweetie Belle is a supportive figure in Roy’s life, especially as one who struggled as a blank flank in her youth. She and her friends have tried to help him find his talent, but it disheartens them when none of their efforts work. Maybe this is something best left for Roy to figure out himself, they’ve concluded. Even then, Sweetie is there to help her nephew whenever he needs it. Roy does take comfort in knowing he’s not alone as his cousin, Diamond Mine, also struggles with self-worth. They don’t actually talk about it openly, but they know it’s something they can bond over.
Perhaps the only pony Roy feels truly at home around is Paint Swirl, his best friend since, well, the day he was born. Unlike other ponies, Paint doesn’t remind him of the things he’s insecure about. When together, they can just forget the world and find peace away from their outgoing families. Roy has had a massive crush on Paint for as long as he can remember, but it’s gotten to the point where he’s a bit too emotionally dependent on her. He just doesn’t feel at peace whenever she’s not around, especially if they spend more than a day apart. Why, he would fall apart if he lost her for good…
But one day when tragedy does strike, Roy will find himself taking comfort in Feather Fieldgoal, Confetti Surprise, and a host of other new friends and old acquaintances who come together to help him back up! Cutie Mark:
Roy doesn’t have his cutie mark, and it’s the source of most of his insecurities in life. At this point, he almost believes he’s doomed to be a blank flank forever. However, anypony he knows would say that with his kind and generous heart, he’s bound to get his cutie mark doing good for others.
