Had the sketch of this laying around in ages before finally getting around to give it some colours.
 
Some might recognize Black Concoction from my Crackship Babies series a few years ago. For a quick one-shot I really liked the basics of her design. So eventually dropped the crackship origin and gave her a new story, for RP purposes. I also felt the urge to try fix up her design a bit to try work around the MLP canon design for hippogriffs and I think it works well for her.
 
She’s from a place used in some of my RP’s called the Black Empire, which was made up before the hippogriffs showing up on MLP proper, but think it still works out. The Hippogriffs of Mt Ares are a colourful lot of exotic birds, where the Black Empire is far from the ocean with the majority of the population being more colourless birds of the corvix family. Although the empire’s uninspired name is a mixture of the population mostly being black birds, but also due to the heavy focus they have on alchemy and dark arts, with some necromancy on the side.
 
Dark Concoction is not a pureblooded black hippogriff, a bit of gryphon in there to mix some parrot over the crow in her family, making her stand out. She’s a runaway slave determined to become a true warlock to never lose her freedom again.  
She’s quite fun to RP.
