Another ref of the Lazy Company cast. This one was created with the core cast but on a separate piece of paper due to space. So they got their own ref for themselves.
Another character based by just be given a name and an occupation to work with. We wanted a diverse cast, so D-range here was made a Kelpie since the cast didn’t had one yet.
I created the piece with them in the fireproof suit first, but mh47e warned he didn’t want a TF Pyro clone, so I made a ref of a more regular appearance too. Still I wanted to keep some mystery to them, so I never picked what gender they are supposed to be and tried to make them appear as androgynous as possible. In my head they are genderfluid and doesn’t care about whatever pronouns you use for them, while leaving their biological gender a mystery.
Of course this is just my own interpretation and I haven’t discussed that with Clear Skies. Just my own look on the character, as I created them for the project.
I made the eyes a mystery too because I do adore the character design of those sly, closed eyes. They can of course see as much as Brock in Pokemon, it’s just an artistic choice to make them look cool because I like the appearance of it. It also keeps them looking cool even when in shock.
In my head D-range is also the type who would be great as a voice of reason, as they do see what outcome would be of the Lazy Company antics. They just choose not to, just to see where things go because it’s entertaining to watch the others get into troubles. They are pretty laid back with nerves of steel, which is pretty good skills for somepony handling explosives on a daily basis.
Enjoy!
