Suddenly, as if sent in on cue, she heard a familiar hardy knock.
“Pelly?”
“Go away! I don’t wanna talk to you!” She thundered in response.
Silence followed from the other side.
“Pelly, I’m sorry. More than anything, and…I know there ain’t no excuse for what I said. But please, can I come in?”
“No you can’t! It’s YOUR fault that I can no longer go outside without paparazzi followin’ me! I’m tired of ponies meddlin’ in my life because I’m too shy to do it on my own! Get away from my room and out of my life!” Pelly’s words were stinging like a wasp. She had never spoken to anyone this way, especially not to Mel.
“I had to be honest! They were askin’ all those questions and I couldn’t lie to them! That ain’t what Ma taught us!”
“Mumma taught us to be respectful of ponies’ boundaries! Ma may have taught us to stick with our family but I wish you weren’t my sister!” Pelly finally cried out, spurring Mel to leave.
As the shy younger sister, she had always been a little immature, she didn’t really know what she was saying. But she was sober of mind this time, and she meant it.
