After Hyde and Jekyll escape those ponies who tied to hurt them they went to look for food, and for most of the day no luck, as the day grew colder and more snow piled up it was getting harder and harder to find food anywhere, ponies were celebrating inside having dinner, playing games, singing heart warming eve songs even though Hyde needed to find food he can’t help in feeling good seeing these things but even though he had Jekyll as a friend and in a way like a brother he still felt lonely physically and Jekyll understood how he felt, later when they went to the park trying to find something they still have no luck soon Hyde’s Hunger pangs kicked in and Hyde grew hungrier and hungrier and along it being nighttime and the wind blew in more cold air Hyde could not take it and went to the floor, Hyde was really cold and Jekyll tried to tell him to get up and go home but again it was too cold and his Hunger pangs made him feel weak so Hyde felt tired and felt like sleeping.
just as soon Hyde was about to close his eyes he heard a little filly’s voice, he looked up and saw a little filly dressed in red, shocked by this Hyde covered his face, the little filly said to not be afraid and ask if he would want some food, Hyde was unsure but was desperate so he said yes and the little filly helped his up and took him to where her parents were, they were selling soups and baskets of food to the poor Hyde asked why are they doing this? the filly said it’s tradition in their family to give food to the poor and she explained a little lesson of heart’s warming to Hyde that her mom told her, Hyde felt good that ponies could be so kind during this time of year, remembered how Jekyll was so kind and forgiving despite of what happened and felt proud that he helped Jekyll too so he said that is really nice for the filly’s family to do this for others, the filly agreed and she gave a bowl of vegetable soup to Hyde and a basket of food and for a bit they talked and had a good time after Hyde was done he thanked the filly and her parents fort their generosity and grabbed the basket and left to go home.
later Hyde made a hole on the floor board somewhere in the house to store the food, but felt entirely thankful for what the filly did and later went to bed and slept peacefully, Hyde knew it’s was only for that moment and does not know if anything like it will happen again but he and Jekyll were just happy to have a moment like that at all.
end
the title is based on this song youtu.be/XHrRxQVUFN4 because the “birds” is a metaphor for this situation and also it’s a sweet song.
now about Hyde feeling weak it’s not really his body because the phosphorus helps and you know if you look up the benefits which helps Hyde and Jekyll but due to still feeling pain and everything working in the body despite being undead they will still need basic things for survival even though they will never get sick or die which is good in one way but in this situation they continually suffer internally due to hanger mostly, so due that kind of pain Hyde could not take it and just in a way gave up but luckily a filly helped him and in a way it’s like a reward for both since they learned to cooperate and help each other.
also p.s hyde did not show his face bu the ponies still help him because they see a poor stallion down on his luck
