For Pony AU, since I’ve twisted my Headcanon so far the show can’t hold it.
 
Name: Steam Shift  
Race: Mule Pegasus (mom was a pegasus, dad was a donkey)  
Sex: Stallion  
Age: Adult a few years older then Gear  
Sexuality: asexual aromantic  
Height: a bit Shorter then average Pegasus around 12,6 hands (128.8cm)  
Weight: 190kg (418lb) the fake wing adds about 10kgs to that  
Job: Cloud formation  
Hobbies: Small time acting or movie watching  
Likes: Fog, Clouds, Movies, Flying, ponies  
Dislikes: Walking or running, Blue skies, clothes, Trains (he’ll only go on one with other ponies but never alone), being alone
 
Magic: standard pegasus, though his reserves are smaller then average.
 
 
Background:  
In his teen years Steam was in a horrible train crush, leading to the lose of his left Wing and his heart. Thankfully for him Gear and her mentor Gizmo were able to replace them using the magic powered prosthesis that the two are specialists in. along with his heart and wing, his skull and a few ribs had to be reinforce he healed well though his front left leg well cause him a fair amount of pain if he walks or stands to long. After the crush he moved to Millers Bit, since his parents were disgusted with his new limbs, since prosthesis are seen by some ponies as unnatural and wrong given the history of the technology. His home live wasn’t the greatest before hand so the move was something that Steam sees as a good thing. also he has bad habit of broking his wing, it also useful for him to live in the same town as Gear though this has caused Gear to try and make wings he can’t break, with in turn as slowly ended up with Steam being used to test her new wing designs.
 
Talent:  
Steam talent very good at reading the atmosphere both in the sky and in ponies. In the sky this means he can fly at the same level as other Pegasus descend his fake wing and lack of tail feathers. he does this by picking up small changes in the wind . when dealing with other ponies Steam well read others emotions and adjust his spoke in order to change or maintain the mood, usually a happy one. This makes it easy for him to get along with almost anyone, though this also leads to him “acting” instead of showing his true thoughts. he’s also not the most trusting pony since he know better then anyone that ponies hide there true thoughts all the time. This don’t stop him from making friends, he’s friendly with pretty much everyone in Miller’s Bit, knowing everyone’s name. He just don’t form the deepest relationships, preferring the half lies and “acting” that come with only knowing another in a casual way.
 
Personality:  
Steams a very calm pony, and is pleasant to be around not matter your mood he always is nice to be around. Steam rarely speaks his mind preferring to go with the flow, this leads into him getting into things he don’t like. He rarely says no, and can got overburdened easily. he hates being alone, and well take any opportunity to be with others.
 
Trivia
 
Being a Mule steam don’t have the butt feathers most Pegasus have, but he gets less tried flying then the normal pegasus flying the same amount.
 
Steams not sure how he ended up friends with Gear since she’s very blunt and honest about things and only forms Deep friendships with ponies. This being the opposite of Steams preferred relationships, Steams has found the fact he don’t have to “act” around her refreshing though he’s uncomfortable at the care Gear shows for him (and all her friend).
 
Do to his talent he’s very good at spotting changlings, he don’t tend to like them though.
 
He’s a bit of a fanboy for the main six, who are pretty famous, he’s never met any though.
