Both Lightshow and Glowstik have a skull-like pattern on their faces- it’s not painted on, it’s how they were born. Neither of them know their father, and Trixie’s never talked about him. She’s the older twin by six minutes, but she doesn’t really care all that much. Her brother’s her best friend and she was heartbroken when he disappeared from Equestria for a year.
She attended a private school (as did Glowstik), but she went to an all mares school. She’s also a lot taller than Glowstik and towers over Trixie, who’s unnaturally short for a unicorn. She’s way calmer than her grouchy twin and grew up being the peacemaker between him and their mother. They got into lots and lots of heated arguments, and she’d often have to step in as the bigger person. She’s extremely mature, especially so for being raised by Trixie (who wasn’t really the best mother to either of them growing up).
She moves out of Trixie’s household the minute she’s legally able to, going on to attend college at the Crystal Empire. She befriends Calypso, one of the two princesses of the Empire.
While Glowstik’s coat is faded due to his troubling childhood (pony coats dull as a result of intense negative emotions), Lightshow refused to let her childhood block off opportunities of happiness. Her coat is vibrant and lively as a result.
The stripes on her neck and legs aren’t actually stripes. They’re scars from her childhood. For about three years, Trixie lived in the woods in her trailer as a comfort method. A timberwolf attacked their 3-member family, and Lightshow was victim to much of the attack. Thankfully, she’s completely healed since then and now has a story to share at campfires.
