Toni, despite her mostly happy upbringing, still went through her fair share of a rebellious stage. A questioning phase, probably the more accurate name for it. Pony genes are random- that’s obvious by the pink candy-colored pony known as Pinkie Pie, a shiny needle in a haystack of dull, blandly colored ponies that is the Pie Family. Sure, she looks like her dad. She has his brown coat and fluffy features, even his soft smile. But there was… no Rainbow Dash in her. No matter how hard she tried, she was never anything like her mother, as much as she wanted to be. She looked up to Dash not only as a mother and a mentor, but as a hero- a pony made perfect for society.
It was a short phase. Toni’s known for her confidence, her ability to think for herself and disregard the opinions others have about her. But it was still something she went through as a teenager, and she did have a pretty rough time for a while. She’d usually take out her anger by beating up the mean kids after school. It’d get her into worlds of trouble, but at least she knew she was doing the right thing… the thing Rainbow Dash would do.
Similarly, Morning Glory, the adopted daughter of Flash Sentry and Sunburst, goes through a very similar struggle. She and Glory are actually pretty similar, but Toni is definitely more of the social, flashy one. The two haven’t met at this point, but if they had, they probably would’ve been able to help each other. If they’d met around this time, Glory would’ve found huge support in a friend who understood what she was feeling- but they didn’t, and Glory basically isolates herself to cope.

Changed a few aspects of Toni’s design! She’s not wearing her necklaces here. For a while, they didn’t feel like a part of her, even though she’s had them since the first day of her life. Toni doesn’t know that Rainbow Dash isn’t her biological mom.

Originally had Glory in here too, but I didn’t like how she came out at all and ended up scrapping her from the finished product. They’re both characters I haven’t really payed attention to much, and I’d like to explore more on other characters in my verse!
