Description:
For some context, this is Panther, the son of Princess Luna and King Sombra, about five or six years old in this picture.
Luna just took him far away from Equestria in order to get rid of him. Though it breaks her heart into so many pieces, she tells him she’ll be back if he stays right there. Unfortunately, Panther obeys, not wanting to risk moving an inch, which falls into Luna’s plan to leave him there to die.
After about a week, he collapses from hunger, has scars from pesky squirrels, bee stings, and more, but he doesn’t move. When he decides he has to go look for her, convincing himself that she got lost, every ounce of energy has already been drained from his body and he literally can’t move his body.
After yet another few weeks, he is eventually discovered by a zebra wandering from his tribe in search for food. Instead, he found poor little Panther, or Salvatore (his name at the time). The zebra, named Foli, assumed that Panther must have been out there for weeks. Maybe even a few months. So Foli took the young fighter home, introducing him to the zebra tribe.
Side Notes
-Despite being an alicorn, Panther could have died had he been left there for even a week longer. Because he’s an alicorn, though, he was able to survive for much longer than he should have been able to
-Foli becomes Panther’s father figure, something he’s always needed since he never got to meet or even know about Sombra
-Foli is a traveller of the tribe, a position given to some of the strongest zebras of the herd. Their job is to venture far from their lands in search of food
-This particular tribe of zebras is omnivorous, which means they’d be okay with eating plants or meat
-Panther’s hair is very messy here because he and Luna travelled for days to get this far out

I really wanted to further expand on Panther’s backstory
Still practicing sitting poses and proper anatomy
Definitely need to work on wings, but I’m not really sure how to work on improving them
This piece was definitely inspired from The Fox and the Hound, a beautiful Disney film from 1981
