The unicorn was headed on a leisurely stroll towards the library when she heard snickering.
“Oh look, here comes Little Miss Emo!”
“Goth,” she snarkily corrected the group of mares, turning around to face them. “Not emo. There’s a difference, you know.”
“Whatever you say, goth nerd,” one of the mares rolled her eyes. “Always dressing weird and hanging around Prince Velvet for attention. I can’t imagine he actually likes that. Or Queen Luna, for that matter.”
Moonstone’s horn sparked in anger as her mind flashed back to her last scuffle with those mares. “You leave them alone!”
“Just saying, a temper like that isn’t gonna get you Velvet’s hoof, let alone in his bed!”
Her face flushed deep red as the mares broke out in laughter. “You’re no better yourself!”
“At least we know how to dress properly! Face it, that umbrella sticks out like acne. It’s not a good look for someone so close to the royal family. Wouldn’t you say, girls?”
The mares murmured in agreement, as Moonstone pondered their words with a deep frown.
“Oh, is she gonna cry and turn invisible?”
“No,” Moonstone put on a neutral expression, closing her parasol and hiding it out of sight. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to the library. Good day.”
And with that, she ducked her head and trotted off, trying not to attract any more attention.
