Every year there is an “Artventscalendar” on a German Brony Forum. This means that in late summer / early fall members of the forum can submit requests and a groub of artists in the forum tries to fullfill these requests until November for them to be released one per day in the final weeks before Christmas (of course the artists themselves may submit requests too ;)). It is not previously revealed which artists got which request (artists can pick several requests they would be happy to make so none ends up with any request he or she really wouldn’t want to fullfill).  
Funnily enough for the second year in a row I ended up with the request of my good friend redhatbrony who once again had a request based on a Scootaloo themed fanfiction he is writing (not the same one last year’s image was based on).  
Wishing to avoid for him to always end up with images looking too similar in style I went traditional rather than digital this year and used colored pencils for his request. I got to admit that my sentiments about colored pencils are somewhat mixed. I admire the art which some artists create with them, but I never really manage to get the color surfaces as smooth as I would like for them to be. Also scanning is an additional challenge when working with colored pencils. The light of the scanner reflects in such odd ways from the colored pencil surfaces that I had to sort of digitally “repair” the scanned image to make it look similar to the original rather than it sporting many white spots alongside oversaturated colors.  
I made a little mistake in the above image which doesn’t really bother me too much but which I could never unsee once I had spotted it ;p  
The blanket hung over the rear end of the bed seems to be a “ring” rather than being open ended on one side.
