Velvet and Moonstone had reached a breakthrough.
 
They had spent years researching and working for this moment. Years of trying everything and hoping they could find a way. But now, they had succeeded. With the fully-activated portal before him, Velvet Shade knew that this was the moment he’d been waiting for. Today was the day he’d meet his father.
 
”Okay,” Moonstone flipped through a book. “Before we go in, we’ll have to review the proper procedures for portal travel…”
 
But as Moonstone droned on, Velvet wasn’t listening to any of it. Instead, his mind was on what lied just through that portal. He had waited all his life to reunite with his father, and now it was just within reach. He couldn’t wait a moment longer. It was as if some powerful force was pulling him towards the portal. A force that he couldn’t resist.
 
”Velvet!”
 
Moonstone looked up from the book just in time to see Velvet dive into the portal.
 
And it closed behind him.
