Description

MLP belongs to Hasbro; NO INFRINGEMENT INTENDED!!!!

With G1 back in the hands of Hasbro, which version of this human character, Megan, is the best… in design? Some Additional Notes: from 1984-1986, Megan was voiced by Tammy Anderson, who was a singer… as far as I know. From the later half of 1986 to 1987, she was voiced by Bettina Bush, who was a good sound-alike to Megan, and this was because the TV budget dropped so low, they couldn’t afford many of the original actors and actresses (which is why almost everyone has no unique actress). Megan was also paired with Sundance in Catrina, voiced by Laura Dean, and the commercials and may have been planned to be paired with Sundance, but since they couldn’t get her back and didn’t find a good sound alike (not like it mattered; Posey had a radical voice change), she was left out.

Anyway, I like Midnight Castle Megan the best; she looks like a rider and is more unique from the other girls show cartoon girls, who have a lot of frilly uniforms. She also looks cool… and the perfect mix of cartoony and realism that the 1980’s is known for… in a way. If I can’t get Spirit Soldiers to be made in Japan, then I need to mimic a 1980’s cartoon style.

So, which, out of the four, is the best design for Megan Williams? Don’t let me influence you.

UPDATE: upon closer viewing of the 1986-1987 episodes, I noticed a minor design shift during 1 episode of season 2 (as far as I know). In the episode “Spike’s Search,” the entire cast of characters (Megan included) appeared to have been remodeled in the style of a Japanese Anime, and it’s not a 1-frame fluke like many other times; this design is consistent throughout the episode, and it’s very noticeable with the human characters. Toei was actually not the only company to animate the MLP series, as Akom and Sunbow did some work on it too, although I’m pretty sure Toei made “Spike’s Search.”
