“H-how much do you know? What did they tell you?” The unicorn stammered.
“Not much. They just told us to ask you.” Krabby watched the other unicorn fidget a bit, before Kid ever so slightly relaxed.
“Hrmmrm… I guess… if you’re friends with those kids, you’re not so bad. Just… stay out of my way, please?” Kid picked up his tools with a telekinetic field, and returned to his device.
“‘Those kids?’ Don’t let them hear you calling them that.” Krabby looked back toward the Zenith Stone that the other Troupes went to see. “Knowing them, if they helped you out, they probably already think of you as a friend. You don’t seem to feel the same way.”
“They! Are not my friends. No matter how much I-” Kid trailed off, before shaking his head and taking notes off the device’s console. “Anyway, what do you care? I’m your enemy after all.”
Truffle blinked. “E… enemy? Isn’t that taking this competition a little too far?”
“What? Don’t you know what’s on the line? The winner gets the attention of the Empress! They’ll be… acknowledged by the smartest and most powerful pony in Equestria! There are rumors that she personally teaches the winners of these competitions! Who wouldn’t want that?” Kid rambled.
“… aren’t you already the heir to a massive company or something?” Truffle asked.
Kid stopped what he was doing for just a moment, glancing at Truff with an unreadable expression before silently returning to it.
