So I had this weird rando thought about the changelings. I remember watching a review on Celestial Advice in which the reviewer compared the new Changeling designs to Fey/faeries, which I kinda agree with. As much as the new look grew on me (mostly cause Thorax is adorable and awesome), I don’t like that they just changed like that. It seems weird to me. It’d make more sense if the Changelings alive now got the sparkle wings like Thorax but remained the same while those after that point, got colorful.
 
Ranting aside, I just decided to draw Kevin (changeling from ‘Slice of Life’), Pharynx and Thorax as dark fey (though they were mostly based on dark elves). I gave them distinct marking to not only to display their roles but to show that Kevin is the odd one out.
 
Thorax is a regular worker, not meant for much more than maintaining the hive, hence his lanky and short build. His markings are to show others his role in the hive.
 
Pharynx is a soldier. As such, he doesn’t have as many markings as they’d draw attention to him when defending the hive. He was hard to color since his color scheme is a lot more… colorful than was necessary.
 
Kevin is a medic (if it wasn’t obvious). Kevin belongs to a different hive than Thorax and Pharynx, which is why his marks are different from theirs.
