One day at college, a few weeks after the incident at with Lady’s family, when she was alone in her dorm, Bubble was preening herself, brushing out her long hair when in her reflection, her eyes would shimmer and gloss over. It suddenly dawned on her what she was doing. This was nothing more then a disguise. When had she lost the line between this fantasy and her reality?
Ever since Imago took on Bubble’s form 15 years ago, she seldom goes back to her default form if she can avoid it. But Bubble locked the doors and drew the curtains and after what seemed like for an eternity, intentionally took on her true form. She was shocked by her reflection, having not seen her own face in well over a decade… her mane, originally trimmed back to the traditional changeling military haircut, draped down her body, long enough that she could sit on it. For a brief glimpse she saw her tyrant queen staring back at her. It made her chitin crawl.
“… Has it really been so long..?”
After staring at her reflection, Imago reached for the scissors on her desk and started hacking away at her mane. Once it reached her shoulders, she stopped herself… What was she doing? Imago is no longer part of the hive, she has no need to discipline herself and keep her mane short. She doesn’t have to look like the rest of her hive anymore.
This is her life now. What is she going to do with it now? Will Imago and go with her original plan and start over? And what if Mako returns? Imago cares for him more then she likes to admit but what if the relationship evolves to something more. Could she be strong enough to tell him about… this?
