You contact Wintermute and try to set up a meeting with the client to discuss the terms of your employment, but this client doesn’t seem to operate the same way as other clients. Wintermute tells you that you will be paid 5000 bits for completing the job, which is good money plus an extra 2000 if it’s done clean. Winter mute also does not tell you where you are taking the information from, simply stating that he will contact you with further instructions. You try to get more information, but you are met with silence.
 
Feeling defeated you sit back and just, think for a while. Your thoughts turn to augmentations. For a long time, you wanted to get jacks to interface with cyberspace, from what you’ve read, hacking with yourself jacked into the system would make your job easier.
 
You realize that your landlord has her prosthetic leg, and things might be better if you try to get more on her good side.
 
You knock on your landlord’s door and she slowly opens it.

You both enter her house.

“I’m a computer security expert.”
 
“So what are you thinking about getting done?”
 
“I want to get bio-interface jacks installed.”
 
“You know that there’s a lot of difference between prosthetics and cyber space jacks right?”
 
“Yeah, but the surgery is similar.”
 
“I guess, what do you want to know?”
