This is a sketch from about 2 years ago that I never bothered to finish mostly cuz it was experimental.
While getting other work done, I decided to draw one of those size comparison things of all the Mane Six as well as give them all more unique body-types. Applejack is the tallest of them, muscular and thick. Fluttershy is slightly shorter than AJ and thin and dainty. Rarity is mid-height and standard body type. Twilight is basically the same as Rarity but slightly shorter. Pinkie is short and plump. Dashie is the shortest and has a petite build.
I have wanted to draw fanart of the Mane Six with a somewhat more diverse look like this before but I don’t think anyone should be forced to. I don’t have a problem with all of them being from the same vector puppet build in the show and I’m not a fat-pride activist trying to stick a chubby character in there or two, I just thought this would look interesting. Pinkie definitely would be the one that is likely to be plump and AJ looks good having a stockier build. Dashie has always struck me as the youngest and littlest even with how athletic and strong she may be and the rest of them all kinda go well with how they are depicted.
Do you guys agree with this approach and what would you do differently? Let me know in the comments below. 🙂
