Ruby scoops a few into her belt and then replaces the top back onto the box, as well as the other boxes she opened. It doesn’t really make them any less ransacked, but maybe it’ll keep the dockworkers from finding out too soon.
Ruby makes her way down the box mountain and out the door, being careful to watch for guards or workers the entire time.
When she returns to her “home”, Ruby finds Barber sitting at their creaky dinner table with some soup and a spoon in her hoof.
“You make this?” Barber says, pointing her spoon at the bowl.
“Yeah.” Ruby says, guardedly while sticking up her chin.
“Where’d you learn to make soup?” the mare replies, spooning some into her mouth.
“The grocery guy we go to in the Marketplace. What do you think?” Ruby finishes, cautiously optimistic.
“It’s good. Did you buy all these ingredients? We must have got a pretty good deal from the fence.” Barber comments, motioning for the filly to grab a bowl herself.
Ruby gets some soup while also grabbing the bread and cheese she bought. She then returns to the table and takes a few gulps. It’s has a nice vegetable taste, with a bit of tomato thrown in. It’s especially nice with the bread and cheese.
The filly sighs contently at her work of art.
