A little backstory for my character Night Owl.
Night was the result of a one night stand with a pegasus mare and a bat pony guard from Pranceylvania (Transylvania). Rainy Day, Night’s mother, had dreams and aspirations of being a Wonderbolt as a filly but after getting pregnant with Night Owl, she was forced to put her dreams on hold and devote her time to being a single mother. While she does have many regrets, she does the best she can raising the filly. Around the time Night was 15, Rainy married to a gentle stallion and had two foals with him (along with another on the way).
Feeling neglected and full of teenage angst, Night Owl decides to run away from home and go to Pranceylvania and find her birth father. After hitchhiking and sneaking on trains and ships, she eventually made her way to the capital. With only a name and a brief description from her mother, Night asked around town until she ended up standing in front of a gravestone… Her father had been killed in the line of duty 7 years prior..
Feeling lost and alone in a place she’s unfamiliar with, Night is overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness… Until she heard a gentle voice behind her. A bat pony filly, probably only a few years younger then herself inquired if she knew the stallion whose name was engraved on the tombstone. Night simply shook her head and said that she never met him. Unexpectedly Night Owl’s walls broke and she spilled out her feelings to this stranger, opening up for the first time when all hope seemed lost.
The filly comforted Night and listened attentively, but when Night mentioned that the deceased was indeed her father, the filly’s ears perked and her eyes went wide. It was then Night discovered that this mysterious filly was also a daughter of this mysterious stallion. Surprisingly overjoyed, the filly insisted on calling Night her sister and inviting her to her home, out of the rain, and join her family for dinner. A little overwhelmed, Night confessed that she didn’t even know her name…
The filly smiled sweetly and responded cheerfully that her name was Midnight Mural.
