“Hi!”
Toxic jumped his wings buzzing as they carried him some feet from the ground. Below him was a purple foal staring up at him with golden eyes and a easy smile. Toxic remained in the air for a moment before he landed. The foal continued to smile at him, awe clear in his eyes as he looked him over.
“Who are you?” Toxic asked, suspicious of the pony. Though he didn’t look dangerous, he was in Ponyville when he wasn’t supposed to be. Mama would be proud but mom would kill him if she found out where he was.
“We are Sirius Veil!” He stated cheerfully, nearly bouncing with excitement. “Who art thou?” Toxic flinched. He couldn’t stay here. Ponies were looking for him and he couldn’t risk getting caught.
“Uh…T-Toxic Love?” He replied, trying to think of a way to escape without being spotted by somepony. Just as he had thought of an escape plan, he heard somepony running in their direction. In a panic, Toxic shifted his form to a bright blue colt with a red mane. Sirius’ eyes widened at the sight but otherwise showed no reaction to it as a stallion rounded the corner. He stared down at Toxic and glared.
“You! Who are you?” He demanded, stomping a hoof. Toxic took a step back, his ears drooping with fear. All he’d done was knock over some vials and stuff. Why was he being to so scary?!
“At ease, sir.” Sirius proclaimed, his tone authoritative and sure. “This colt is our friend, Rigel Love. What do you need from him?” The stallion froze at the sight of Sirius, bowing low to the foal.
“H-he is a friend of yours?” He asked. Sirius nodded. “I-I see. I’m sorry to have bothered you then, your highness. I shall depart, if you would allow me?” Sirius nodded, to which the stallion galloped away, probably just to get away from the foals intense look. Toxic grimaced, wanting to bash his head against a wall for his foolishness. Shoot, he’d bumped into the prince of Friendship?! What bad luck.
After a minute silence, the colt started to giggle. He turned to toxic with a bright and eager smile that made the changeling feel weird.
“Wow, that was most excellent! Great fun, yes?” Sirius asked, leaning in close to Toxic. Toxic’s chest tightened and his disguise was dropped as golden eyes stared into his green/red eyes. Sirius’ eyes widened. “Oh, my! How amazing an ability that is. So you must be a changeling, yes?”
“Eh? Uh…” Toxic wasn’t sure what to do. He wasn’t used to talking to ponies other than mama and she didn’t talk like this colt. She monologued and stuff.
“What is the matter, Love?” He asked, cocking his head. “Your mane is moving all over the place.”
Toxic turned toward one of the walls to see his reflection and it was just as Sirius had said. His mane was moving. His mane did that, just like mama’s but this was new. His mane was wiggling about nervously, though he wasn’t actively doing so.
“it’s… Its a changeling thing!” He lied, not wanting to admit he was nervous around a pony. Sirius’ eyes were so pretty. They were warm and luminous like the sun. “You wouldn’t understand.” He said with a pout.
“Then perhaps you can teach me about changelings?” He suggested, his smile freezing Toxic to the spot. “Mayhap you would allow me to call thee… my friend, perhaps?.” He asked, staring up at the taller foal cutely. At that look, Toxic’s mane flew upward as his heart raced.
“…Yes.” He replied, absently, his mind blank as he stared into those golden eyes. He might be coming to castle more often, it seemed.
