Highwind places a small Iron Dagger and an odd, brass colored stick thingy in front of Clover.
“These are the tools of a Magic Archer. This here~~” He points to the bent metal stick~~ “is a Magic Bow. It requires nothing but energy to fire. It’s a heavily enchanted Focus, which is slightly different than a Catalyst. While it can’t be used for most conventional magic like a wand or horn, it instead channels raw elemental power. Most spells can’t be used with something like this, but because of it’s nature, it doesn’t take as much energy to use as normal magic. The dagger is something special; the gem in the hilt is able to absorb elemental magic, empowering the blade. With the right training, you can use your bow to set it to life.”
Clover asks a few questions, like how it works, how long it takes to master, and she even thanks him for helping her so much, and wants to know why he’s going through the trouble.
He starts with an explanation. “First, you must hold the bow, and find a target. Imagine yourself as a cup, and that you’re pouring yourself into this hole in the front. Stand on your hindlegs-yes, like that. Breathe in, and let yourself fill the bow with your essence. Now, take your other hoof and draw back like there’s a string, and-yes! You’ve got it! Just like that.”
Clover draws a magic arrow, and fires at the wall!
“Well, this boat ride and rare magical artifacts aren’t free, Missy. I’ve got a job for you, since you’re already well aware of what happened. You must have seen it, right? That package? Well, it’s now your job to destroy it. Which is where my contacts come in. They’re going to help you do so.”
Highwind gave a wry grin. “And one more thing… you’re my niece, if anypony asks. And my name is Silverwind. This beard isn’t real, too; It’s a disguise I use when pirating.”
To Clover’s horror, he rips it off right in front of her!
