his is my latest painting based on a quote I found a while ago. The full quote is, “Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” by Friedrich Nietzche.
 
This quote and painting describes my life fighting a never-ending battle with depression. I titled this “On the Edge” because that is how I feel: one step from being consumed by the darkness and falling into the pit of death. My usual cheery demeanor is one of the tools I use to fight my demons, but sometimes I feel so defeated and have thoughts of taking the plunge
