Description

And here we have our second Main Villain… kind of.

Main Villains are chosen before the game starts and greatly influence the way the game progresses. They bring permanent passive effects with them, sometimes own special enemies.

The Alicorn Amulet possesses a different normally playable character every playthrough. This impacts the game in two major ways. Normally the hitpoints of a main villain act as a measure for the length of the game as well as determining his strength. Every turn, the hitpoints fill up one point and when the last hitpoint is filled, it is time for the final battle. This one is a little different. Depending on the possessed character the boss gains from 3 to 7 hitpoints. This can prolong the fight massively but that is not even the real problem.

The real problem arises if an Investigator with a high amount of Harmony is possessed (the spellcasters). While the hitpoint gain is only meager, Harmony detemines the modificator for the final battle. Worst case is Cadence with 7 Harmony. This would mean going up against a boss with a -7 to all attack rolls against him (and don’t forget the magical resistance)

The upside is that no enemies are buffed and the attack ability is not that harmful (well… it could be worse). The special ability on the other hand can shorten the game dramatically.

All in all… you have a nasty Villain in a potentially very short game.
