Description

“I’m breaking my no-fan-art rule again to bring some pony OC’s that have rattled around in my brain long enough. Here are six characters based on the MLP:FIM mythos in a story I call “My Little Pony: Shadows over Hoofsmouth.” Apparently there was a previous iteration of the franchise that was set under the sea as well, but I doubt it had the Lovecraft-themed “Elements of Horror” as I have imagined them.

It revolves around Hoofsmouth village (of mostly Earth-ponies) on the coast of Equestria that was almost completely cut off from the mainland by a startlingly lush forest. The forest grew so fast that they never wanted for timber but were forced to either leave or extend their village across the water and into the ocean.

after a few decades there was no more dry land, and the waters were too turbulent for further development. When it seemed that the village was no longer sustainable they began to discover ancient artifacts and sunken treasures of unknown origins far beneath the surface. Just as their luck seems to be improving a mysterious fire ravages the floating village and forces its residents to escape in their seafaring vessels, not to be heard from for years or decades to come.

That’s where the villagers are rediscovered by the canon MLP characters as having found a way to magically merge with a creature of the sea to allow them to live underwater and further explore the strange ruins in the trench beyond their new home under Hoofsmouth. Pictured here are my own OC (the octopus), an urchin, a giant clam, an electric eel, angler fish and seahorse.”
