Dragons, Griffons, Changelings, Zebras, Diamond Dogs, etc. all seemed to be the cause of the problems in these books. Youd get the odd evil wizard unicorn once in a while, but theyd also eventually turn into something else, like a demon or something.
After reading a few pages, Spike put the book down in frustration. He noted so many things wrong they got about dragons in the first few pages. The sweeping generalization that all dragons were inherently evil, dumb, bad attitudes, etc. From personal experience, he knew that dragons had the potential to be those things, but didnt everyone?
He went to analyze the reference section, hoping to find anything on dragons. He could only find a thin book on dragon myths and legends. Disappointing, but not surprising, he lived in a pony town and a pony kingdom. He was the only dragon he knew, and last he checked dragons didnt make good pets, so of course there would be nothing written about them. Spikes thoughts drifted back to the one time he actually had contact with other dragons. At the time, the experience was so stressful that hed signed off ever being a dragon, but as he got older he started to reconsider, especially since it didnt seem to be teenaged dragons that were jerks, but teenaged anything tended to be jerks, and as such maybe his first impression wasnt the best impression. Everything else besides that last part with the teenaged dragons was great. Proving his worth to the older dragons, competing with them, the elation he felt when they accepted him; hed felt a sense of camaraderie that he hadnt really experienced since.
Spike realized how long he was reminiscing by the growling in his stomach. A look outside the window revealed that he had daydreamed the day away. With a deep sigh, he got something else to eat and decided to head to bed. As he did, he thought to himself, I wonder what those guys are up to? I wonder if they still hate me. I think I could take them on, especially in King of the Hoard, if I didnt slip I couldve totally won last time. Spike smiled to himself as he thought about it. “Though, theyre probably a lot older too, I wonder how big theyve gotten.”
