Apple Bloom seemed to be completely unaware of Snips’ attraction towards her, but eventually came to believe that he did through her best friends prodding and the multiple gifts, blushes, and otherwise pathetic attempts at courting her. Apple Bloom didn’t really know how to react, since she had never caught the eye of a stallion before, but eventually allowed herself to be taken to a dance by Snips.
They awkwardly on-off dated for a year or so before the Apple Family stuck their snouts into the relationship. They firstly and foremost disapproved of the couple due to Snips’ being a unicorn. Secondly, because he seemed to have not yet shown any sign of commitment towards Apple Bloom. Snips hurried to fill the requirements, as he wanted desperately to be seen as a good stallion for Apple Bloom. Apple Bloom managed to get them to back down and quickly calmed Snips.
They eventually began dating seriously, and before they knew it they married. Luckily enough, Snips had gotten favor of Granny Smith, who got the others to approve or at least endure the marriage. The two happily built a cottage on the far west side of the apple orchard to help with the harvest to get it done early.
Soon the Apple Family was pushing for the two to have a child. Many sent fertility gifts to Apple Bloom, and letters to Snips on how to seduce mares. The two were deeply embarrassed by the offers, but accepted them graciously. But they did not have a child until a few years later.
Ginger Gold was born in the spring, to the surprise of the Apples she was a unicorn. It was not clearly known then, but earth ponies are particularly good on passing on traits of the father, especially the race. Despite the filly being a unicorn, the Apple Family loved her all the same and began pushing Apple names onto her. Apple Bloom and Snips finally settled on Ginger Gold.
Ginger Gold is very adventurous, if introverted filly. She prefers to do her own thing rather than depend on another pony, and is always ruffled whenever a grown-up tries to help or does something for her. Ginger has few friends due to her lack of ability to share her toys, and always hogging the game whenever they played sports. Ginger is also teased for her buck-teeth, but that usually ends up in a fight. Ginger absolutely adores her parents, however, her mother being her favorite. Only she will allow her parents to make decisions for her, but not any of the rest of the Apple Family.
Ginger’s talent came around during her twelfth birthday, when she somehow managed to turn an Apple into a block of gold. Apple Bloom quickly told Applejack, who told Twilight. Twilight was extremely interested, due to how complicated a transformation spell was. Ginger’s talent only increased as she harnessed it, turning water into apple cider and her healthy lunches into cavity-making sweets. Due to her excessive Transformation making, she began to put on a little more weight.
Soon Twilight invited Ginger to Canterlot to speak to her about an apprenticeship. Ginger was overjoyed with the idea of being a student of Princess Twilight Sparkle, and quickly agreed. However, she was not so overjoyed with studying and her restrictions on transformation.
