I heard about this whole Newbie Artist Training Grounds thing recently and I decided to give it a try today. I’m really behind but I want to try all of the challenges. This is Challenge 1: Draw a pony standing.
 
I’m glad the first challenge was something simple to help with warming up for the others. I had trouble picking a pony for this one but I ultimately chose Applejack since she has a rather simple design (and because I never drew her before compared to the other members Mane 6 which I have drawn at least once). Since I like the movie’s style, I tried basically drawing it but with a show styled muzzle. I think I might continue drawing a blend between both the show and the movie’s styles. I quite like it.
 
I drew this 100% digitally using only Kritra and a really old drawing tablet. I notice a few mistakes here and there (her hind legs are off and her legs in general should probably be a bit longer for example) but despite that, I’m rather proud with how it came out, especially considering that I didn’t use any traditional art to make this.
 
The initial sketch I made for this was really messy by the way.
