1_ Escaped from an asylum:  
For an universe where Twilight succumb to her inner madness and end up in a facility care/asylum. However, being still intelligent and powerful, she escapes and plan to do some crazy shit. The reason why she was accepted in the asylum can be anything, from mental breakdown, to sickness, or being kept in the facility against her will for political or personal reasons (she end up crazy in the end anyway).
 
2_Mafia II:  
Canterlot is the theater to gangs wars, traffics, prostitution, murders and other dark, bad things. Twilight grew up in that environment and being accepted in Celestia’s school (becoming one of the few ponies that talk to her on a daily basis) only added to her value as an asset. Wishing to break the strings that tie her to the mafia, Twilight is constantly shifting between the forces of good and bad, ending up in a mess that will be her doom.
 
3_Corrupted:  
Dark magic is still magic, right?! Twilight’s curiosity will get the best of her while she’s slowly corrupted by the secrets and powers this forbidden magic can offer. What was obviously mean and egoist will not be anymore, as she uses her new powers to satisfy her growing appetite for domination.
 
4_Royal Guard:  
Wars are way more common in this universe, where a young Twilight join the royal guard out of devotion for her princess. She’s tough, resourceful and brilliant when it’s time to serve her country, but is failing to really communicate with her camarades even when she really wants to make friends. Forced into solitude, she threw herself in her work.
 
5_Plain old Twilight:  
Nothing to see here.
 
6_Apocalypse’s survivor:  
For some reasons the world blew up and Twilight have to survive in an hostile environment all alone, until she finds other survivors. Those hours of studying various subjects like astronomy and healing magic really come in handy, but cannot save her from the dangerous creatures that hid in the night.
 
7_Magician:  
Unlike Starswirl the bearded, Twilight is a natural magician. Born way before canon times, she travels in a pre-unified equestria, helping those in need and chasing after the remains of an ancient prophecy. She’s noble at heart and never let injustice win when she can, even in times where wars and famines transform gentle ponies into hopeless villains.
 
8_Nightmare Moon’s right hoof:  
The sun is dead, long live the moon! Nightmare moon resisted the power of Harmony and banished Celestia, choosing not to kill her sister’s apprentice, but rather to use her at her own advantage. A little dark magic and torture sessions will transform the helpless foal into her right hoof and captain of her personal guard, a devoted mare obsessed with her Queen’s idea of what equestria should be…unless…
