There’s some reconciliation in my head that needs to be done between “Celestia that has dealt with Discord’s impenetrable wall of villainous ego before and is beyond done with it when Round 2 starts” and “Celestia that invites reformed Discord to the Grand Galloping Gala for the lolz.”

The Gala really must be that excruciating for her.

Princess Celestia: Stop stalling, Discord! What have you done with the Elements of Harmony?!
Pinkie Pie: Woah. She mad.
Twilight Sparkle: With good reason.
Discord: Ugh, really? Like a broken record, even… “Discord, Elements, Discord, Elements” – LISTEN to yourself! You know what, though, you’re within striking distance of a good point. I COULD refuse to give you ANY hint… and let you wander the planet for decades… But I’m fighting back a yawn just thinking about that. If we’re ever going to have a proper game, the burden is on me to give you at least a seed to start with. Oh well. Can you blame me for wanting to socialize first?

Discord: You see that? I try to be self-aware and reasonable, and she just doubles down. I’m really hurt.
Pinkie Pie: Ohh… She’s heard his stand-up routine a bunch of times already…
