The annual fall school play is coming up at Canterlot High and Rarity is confident that she is going to do fantastic in the main role of Selfie Soot. However, as the date of the play nears, she begins to feel extremely nervous about her acting skills and begins to doubt that she is not doing the character justice. She explains her anxiety to Twilight while the two are practicing their lines together alone in the auditorium, who quickly comes up with a solution. Twilight then explains that she has been practicing hypnosis for psychology class and proposes that she not only hypnotize Rarity to make her forget about her stress, but hypnotize Rarity into becoming Selfie Soot herself. Although a little hesitant at first, Rarity agrees to be hypnotized if it means she won’t be stressed about the play anymore. Ecstatic, Twilight uses her geode to levitate a pocket watch in front of the fashionista’s eyes, swinging it back and forth as she tells her friend that she is becoming very relaxed and tells her to take a few deep breathes….
 
A few minutes later, Twilight has successfully placed her friend in a deep hypnotic trance. Rarity’s brilliant and creative mind is now completely empty, her arms are left limply hanging at her sides, and her lips have been pulled into a relaxed smile. She no longer cares about the play or rehearsing her lines. All she wants to do is stand in place and obey Twilight’s every suggestion and command, going so far as to refer to her as ‘Miss Twilight’. After erasing all of her friend’s doubts regarding the play, Twilight implants a trigger in Rarity’s mind that will turn her into her character and another trigger to change her back. Once Rarity confirms these triggers are firmly locked in, Twilight snaps her friend back into reality, telling her to wake up feeling relaxed and wonderful, like she just woke up from a peaceful nap, and to remember being hypnotized as a wonderful, blissful experience that she wouldn’t mind doing a second time. After waking up from her trance doing a quick test to see if the triggers work (which is successful), Rarity thanks Twilight for her help and heads home, not minding one bit that, with two simple words and a finger snap, she becomes a completely different person….
