“I am now!” Applejack hollered back, jogging towards her friend. “Y’all better hope you ain’t feelin’ too slow these days,” she teased.
“Puh-lease!” Rainbow scoffed. “My ankle’s all healed up and ready to kick butt!”
“Right, your ankle…” the cowgirl rolled her eyes as she took a moment to stretch out her thick arms.
Rainbow side-eyed her strongly-built opponent before glancing down at her own body, feeling far bigger and softer in comparison. Even though Rainbow has said that she’s been accepting her increasing bulk, she still managed to find roundabout ways to avoid talking about it, especially around her own friends.
“Oh!” Applejack suddenly remembered, “Just so you know, I can’t stick around too long. Got lifeguard duty in about an hour.”
Rainbow cocked her head at the sudden news. “Wait, really? Since when were you a lifeguard?”
“Today’s my first day! Took some extra credit CPR trainin’ for Health. There was an openin’ so I thought I could put it to good use and volunteer for a few hours.”
“Well, that’s cool, I guess,” Rainbow shrugged, thinking of what she could do in the meantime. “I could probably hang out with Fluttershy then, or maybe look around the town.”
“Oh, if you do that, you should check out that barbeque shrimp place. I swear their servin’s are so darn huge, it might actually keep that belly of yours full!” Applejack chuckled.
Rainbow’s brows furrowed from the stinging remark before she shook it off with a smirk. “Very funny, AMPLE Jack. You serve.”
“You got it, Rainbow FLAB.” AJ winked back.
