Pinkie wished they could be making the announcement to both of their daughters. But unfortunately, Cupcake had just gotten home from school as Pinkie found out herself the day before. After both of them told Pokey, he had expressed a desire that he be present when their younger daughter Minty was informed.
The party pony’s back leg popped and an electric tingle ran down her spine, the Pinkie sense signal letting her know her husband was home.
“I’m home,” he called as he slipped in the door. He paused, seeing his wife, the knowledge of their soon-to-be-revealed secret bringing a loving smile to his face. “And hello to the mother of my children.” He moved to kiss her only for Pinkie to slip away and zip to the head of the stairs.
“Yay, you’re home! Can we tell her now?” the mare asked, bouncing from hoof to hoof anxiously.
Pokey gave his wife an exaggerated pouty face. “Can’t I at least get a hello kiss from my wife?”
Pinkie zoomed up and gave him a peck on the lips, then grabbed his hoof and pulled him toward the stairs. “Comeoncomeoncomeonletsgo!”
Pokey laughed, deciding not to keep his wife waiting, and followed her into the basement.
Minty looked up as she heard them coming down. “Daddy!”
She ran up and grabbed his front legs in a tight hug.
“Hey, peanut. Your mommy and I have something to tell you.”
“What?” the green filly asked.
Pokey wrapped his hoof around Pinkie. “Why don’t you tell-”
“We’re getting a baby!”
“-her.” Pokey finished. “You’re going to be a big sister, sweetie!”
The little filly’s eyes lit up and she gasped. “Yaaay!”
Pokey and Pinkie chuckled as the filly hugged both of their legs, grinning widely.
“Whaddya think?” Pinkie asked. “Isn’t it the bestest surprise ever?!”
“Yes!” the filly replied. “When can we go get the baby?”
The parents smiled, trying not to laugh.
Pokey explained. “We don’t go get the baby, sweetie. We have to wait a while until it’s ready to be born.”
Minty’s green eyes glanced between her parents inquisitively. “How come?”
“Because the baby still has to grow for a while.”
“Oh. Well where is it?”
Pinkie put a hoof on her stomach. “The baby’s in mommy’s tummy.”
The little filly frowned, looking at her mother like she was crazy. Her eyes widened as her mind pieced it all together. “You ate the baby?!”
Pokey snickered, then burst out laughing. Pinkie giggled, leaning her head down to explain.
“No, silly. That’s just where it’s growing. The baby’s not in the part of my tummy where food goes. It’s in another part, where babies grow.”
“How’d you get it in there?”
“Oh, that was easy,” Pinkie said, waving a hoof dismissively. “We had se-”
“Secret meeting!” Pokey shouted, covering his wife’s mouth, his face beet red. “We…we had a, uh, a secret meeting and, uh, decided we wanted another baby and so we’re having a baby and that’s what happenedOKgoplaynow.”

My first instinct (for obvious reasons) was for Minty to be Lyra’s daughter. But after remembering the way Pinkie and Minty interacted, especially in A Very Minty Christmas, I went with making her a PokeyPie kid.
My Minty is a little clumsy, and she inherited some of Pinkie’s ADD. She can be very creative when she needs to be and she’s also quite curious, two qualities that her sister Cupcake has to keep an eye out for whenever she babysits.
That hair. Ugh. I had a hard time with the curly complex hair. The darn stuff looks like that hair parasite thing from Skullgirls. But with the hair her parents have, I knew I couldn’t make it any other way. I’m sure I’ll get better at it eventually.
I haven’t designed the third child yet, but I know it’s going to be a boy (those are in short supply among the kids I’ve designed). Every design I can think of for him has been done by someone else, though.

Nevermind. Just thought of some ideas for the new little guy. Still need a good color scheme, though.
