I’m actually here for a student exchange program through my school and
Johann-Herder-Gottfried Gymnasium in Sachsen-Anhalt (it’s a half hour from Leipzig) (all to all of you who don’t know, Gymnasium is a type of high school in Germany, not a building). We stay for a month, which started on June 14, and ends in July. I stay with a wonderful 10th grader and his family, who makes sure that I am doing well. So far, I’ve only had one wave of homesickness from Day 2, evoked by a lack of sleep (I was up for 27 hours the day before…), a loss of appetite, and frustration at the task at hand (a scavenger hunt around the town…). I am doing well. (Side-note, Estories is somewhere out here…)
Naturally, I had to get as much German/EU-exclusive merchandise while I could. Luckily enough, a German plush company called NICI manufactured MLP plushes. Past tense, because I don’t see them on their site anymore. Nevertheless, I have found 20 cm versions of Twilight, Rainbow Dash, and Pinkie, and a 10 cm keychain of Fluttershy. They have not made an Applejack or Rarity plush. I am hoping to find bigger ones in Munich on the last week of the trip.
Here we have Pinkie staring down an ice cream bought for me at an Italian “Eiscafe.” Seriously, the size of that thing surprised me, and my partner got one that was a foot tall.
Have you seriously read everything that I’ve said? You’re awesome. I’d give you a cookie…if I could.”
