In my storyline Rarity and Spike’s relationship ends in tragedy and divorce  
They both felt somehow forced to get together by the societ when they got older and that caused many issues.  
Both are gay and don’t really love each other, and Spike’s blindness for Rarity’s charm broke apart.  
Rarity goes to live with Maud in Manehattan and Spike with Thorax in the Crystal Empire.
 
They had two daughters before the divorce, Vanilla and Neith (not sure about the names), before having children with their new partners.  
They’re still good friends
