#5: Pinkie Pie
Pinkie Pie is one of those odd cases where I like what she represents more than I like the character herself. Let’s face it people, rarely if ever does Pinkie ever have any actual useful input on a situation. She’s only ever been comic relief whenever there’s a problem her friends are dealing with, or when the world’s coming to an end. And I suppose we need to have someone there to add levity to the more serious scenes, I mean this IS a kids show, but the nonsequitors about frosting and screaming her head off about wanting a flugelhorn become an anoyance by the tenth time she does it.
But then she gets her own episodes and suddenly all anoyance goes right out the window and I find myself feeling… ‘compassionate’ I guess is the word? Like Pinkie, I too have this ingraned desire to make other people laugh, or smile, or just feel good about themselves in general, to the point where I want my tomb stone to say “He was nice to work with.” I want people to like me, and I while I think this is all anyone wants, I get the sense that for Pinkie it’s more of a need then a want. I’d love to get a look at what goes on inside that head of hers, there is increadible depth to Pinkie’s character even though on the surface she seems so simple.
