While you can see Rarity and Applejack in romantic subtext (like Rollerocoaster of Friendship), you need to remember the writers always pair the ones who has more chemistry.
Like Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, etc…

They’re pushing rarijack into every episode of fim. Even though there are no rarijack episode in season 8, there’s ton of rarijack shipping fuel. Just look at Yakity-Sax, Horse Play and The Mean 6.
