Description

“Some of you might spot it immediately, but yes this one is inspired by Albert Bierstadt. Mostly one of my favourites, his Storm in the Rocky Mountains, Mount Rosalie. While a lot of the colour choices, values and some layouts are similar, I wanted to make the shapes, and details myself. Also some changes to accommodate Applejack (and Winona) … because I had to.

The thing that interests me is how he made environments have a dramatic composition, with light, colour, shadow and everything. Something that’s a bit more straightforward when applied to just a character, or other small scale (singular) object/creature/character. And I’ve been wanting to explore environments more. Although still loosely brushed. Especially compared to Bierstadt’s works haha, there’s just waaaay more detail going on there.

Either way, it’s quite fun working with such a range of compositional aspects in an environmental larger scale setting. Something that can be applied in so many interesting ways, with so many different environments. Plenty of choices and direction to go in basically hah.

Hope y’all enjoy! It was quite fun making this. Last Saturday Stream where I’m not focused on Episode Art specifically, which will happen next week already! :O (or at a con later on). Although who knows, maybe I’ll get to make something like this while episode related.”
