I wrote a comparison review of these two figures of Mordant.

BANDAI: The figure has six points of articulation, arms and legs on swivels, and butterfly joints, two way shoulder movement activated by a button on his back. It is a bizarre looking figure, while it seems to get the gist of Mordant’s appearance, it’s far from screen accurate. It’s far shorter in scale than Ivan Ooze or Goldar, both of whom in the film he nearly matched in height. The head sculpt is extremely off, so much that it makes me wonder if it was originally intended to be for Snoggle,a creature cut from the film. The face is elongated forward, tusks protrude from either side of his snout, warts cover his visage, close inspection of his mouth reveal an overbite, which should be an underbite. His monocle appears more an ocular cyborg implant than a monocle. His hair should be a mohawk,it points upwards, but is spread too thick to be a mohawk.
His ears press too close against his head, and to finish critique of his head, the skin is a bright pink,as is the rest of any exposed skin on thr figure, when it should be a dark reddish tan.
The body is squat and wide, and bizarrely he appears to have two bellybuttons,on two overlapping bellies. His armor outfit is relatively undetailed, but is fairly accurate in color. The arms are fine, the legs, while stubby are fairly accurate. His pose is a generic stance, standing straight with his arms at his sides.
Overall, its a pretty poor figure in terms of accuracy to the movie, so poor that if I hadn’t been aware of the toy’s appearance I would not have known it was supposed to be Mordant.

GORDY: This figure is wire-bendable,and made of hard rubber. Poseability suffers a bit from the thickness of the rubber material. His arms are stuck in an awkward position. My only other negative is the skin being a far lighter tan than in the film. Overall, the Gordy figure is an exceptional one. In terms of screen accuracy, it easily surpasses the Bandai figure.

I reccomend the Gordy figure to any fans or collectors of 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie. He looks excellent next to most Ivan Ooze or Tengu Warrior figures. The Bandai figure I reccomend for completionist collectors only.

With a good Mordant figure,I can now recreate this scene.

A-Squad figures! No head sculpts though, that’s disappointing. Maybe Greg Aranowitz will custom sculpt the others for fifty bucks.
