Well for one I didn't even notice until we were done putting it together. And since I don't put it together alone, and didn't really feel like calling up the person who helped me and asking them to come back over so we could open it back up & jury-rig the CD tray for five minutes, I just went with ordering a cheap external unit.
Besides: now I have one for the future if I need it.
