“Once the prized student of Princess Celestia, Sunset Shimmer quickly grew dissatisfied with the princess’ teachings… or lack thereof. As Celestia spent more and more time keeping the growing Corporations under control, Sunset decided enough was enough, and set out on her own, determined to become more powerful than any princess. As the cybernetic enhancements sold by the Corps grew in popularity, Sunset eschewed enhanced strength or artificial wings, instead using the technology to enhance her already swiftly growing magical powers.
 
Easily one of the most powerful unicorns in Equestria, especially excelling at the lethal and rarely practiced Fire Magic, Sunset decided to prove her power by taking on the only foes of worth: the various Corporations that were buying Equestria out from under Celestia’s hooves. Knowing that even she could not accomplish it alone, Sunset began assembling a group that would become known for it’s powerful members and willingness to make Equestria a better place… for the right price. The group soon became known as ‘The Rainbow Runners’. Although technically the leader of the group, the other members often have to keep her pride and fiery temper from leading them into bad situations. That said, any being that threatens her crew had better have the power to back it up or they will end up just another pile of ash in her wake.”
