Description

Fluttershy had been one of the first to notice Soarin’s sudden interest in Rainbow Dash. Perhaps it had been due to their long background together, but Fluttershy noticed that Soarin’s feelings were a one way street.
She knew exactly why.
The day had started quietly, a perfectly sunny day, with birds chirping in her trees, and the water mammals splashing about in the pond. She had planned to visit her sanctuary in order to calm her sudden worry for her closes friend. In fact, she wanted to confront Soarin.
She knew that today was a day off for Rainbow Dash, and she was most certainly positive that Soarin would be tagging along.
However, like most of her plans in her childhood, they were crushed. Lo and behold, Zephyr Breeze was visiting because he had heard his favorite mare would be in town. Where he got that information, Fluttershy would never learn, but she knew it would be a VERY. long. day.
“I can’t wait to see my beloved Rainbows. I bet she is just drowning in depression from not seeing me for so long.”
“Obviously,” Fluttershy answered sarcastically.
She had no energy to be arguing with her brother today. She had to find out if her suspicions about Soarin were correct. She just didn’t know how now that her brother was here.
Fluttershy’s ears perked up.
They were here.
*~**
“Soarin, apples are great and all, but chocolate is just better.”
“I just don’t understand how such a little pony like you can eat so much chocolate and not break out!”
“I’m just awesome like that,” she smirked.
Soarin was just about to counter when a sudden blur of green flashed before his eyes.
“RAINBOWS!”
“WHA-NOOOOO!”
Rainbow Dash was trying, and failing, to get out from under Zephyr.
“You came to see me! How noble of you, keeping tabs on your stallion.”
Rainbow Dash’s face was red with anger. Her eyes quickly fell on Fluttershy’s, and Fluttershy cowered.
“He just got here.”
Rainbow found strength and kicked Zephyr off of her.
Zephyr flew and landed hard behind Soarin and Fluttershy.
“Kinky.”
“A little warning next time would be nice,” Dash angrily seethed as she dusted herself off.
“I’m sorry Rainbow. I honestly was not expecting him.”
Rainbow sighed.
“It’ not your fault, Flutters. I know better than that.”
Soarin noticed how the end of that sentence was said with anger. He turned to look at Zephyr, who was currently fixing his hair. He couldn’t help the slight admiration he felt towards him. He was confident and truly believed Rainbow was interested in him. Everyone else could see that she clearly wasn’t, but that didn’t stop the green stallion from continuing to try.
He sadly glanced at Rainbow as he picked up on her conversation with her shy friend.
“I give Zephyr props for not taking no for an answer, but honestly.”
Even Rainbow admired his courage. Soarin could not help the sudden pain he felt in his chest.
“Why don’t we go into town and visit Rarity today, Rainbow. I heard she was in need of a hoof,” the yellow mare suddenly announced.
Rainbow nodded. She knew Fluttershy was doing it to keep a tab on Zephyr. He wouldn’t work that hard for long, and more ponies meant it would be harder for him to suddenly pounce on her.
The group collected and headed into town. Fluttershy was certain. Soarin did indeed feel something for Rainbow, and Rarity would be exactly the perfect pony to help. For now, she just had to keep her brother from harassing her best friend.
