Description

IT’S THROWBACK THURSDAY TIME!
(Repeat 7 times)

Time zones, not yet Thursday over there, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Apologies for my informal behaviour. Shall I commence?

Freedom Fighters, a squad-based third-person shooter game developed by IO Interactive (of Hitman fame) and published by Electronic Arts (Yes, that Electronic Arts) in the early 2000’s, is one of my favorite shooter games ever. Think of it as Mass Effect about 4-5 years before Mass Effect, with up to 12 rebels you can recruit, rescue, order around and interact with.

Playing as an average plumber (NOT Mario, Luigi, or one of those space marines from the Ben 10 franchise), Christopher Stone, after seeing that the Soviet Russians have invaded the USA, specifically New York City, he (with his wrench) must lead the rebel forces and liberate America from the Soviet Russians who won the Cold War, according to the game’s manual. Oh, and the rebel leader who encouraged the aforementioned protagonist is a hot redhead. That’s why it has a T-rating.

Played it on my PC, my now-dead Windows 98 OS, and finished it twice while I was in High School. No cheats.

There was a sequel in the works, but got cancelled.
