Description

So I was rewatching the Season 5 finale and noticed something very interesting. Now in one of the timelines, Nightmare Moon had succeeded in taking over after her return. It was most certainly roughly about a year that she had been in control (as the Season 4 Premier took place 1 year after the first episode). The interesting thing comes with Nightmare Moon’s guards. We know for certain that Rainbow Dash was one of them, but it also appears that 2 others (of the 6 we saw) were mares. Given their size compared to the others and how mares are all shorter than stallions, this is the most likely answer to this phenomena. But why bring this up? Because it’s the first time we’ve ever seen any mare guards ever in the show. All of the Royal Guards we have seen have been stallions. Every last one. And these guards we see are most certainly Celestia’s as they do not wear the armor of Luna’s guards (also Nightmare Moon’s). But what does this mean? That Nightmare Moon is an equal opportunity employer. Be you mare or stallion, you can join the guard and defend Equestria. But Celestia only employs stallions. Quite a curious thing for her to do don’t you think? It does make you wonder really if Nightmare Moon’s rule was really as bad as everyone likes to think.
