My submission for NATG VIII: Day 8!
Today’s theme was “Draw a pony in love / Draw a pony ship(ping).” And Tia, missed the deadline on this one by a fair bit … and it took a bit out of me. I was frantically drawing to try and finish this one on time, but allas, it was not enough.
I was debating this idea, or just drawing some generic ship image, because I knew this idea would take me a little while to draw, and so I was adverse to doing it. But once the idea wormed its way into my head, I couldn’t get it out, haha. I was mostly worried about having to draw the Battleship game, I didn’t want to have to try and fail at drawing that fully … so I just copped out and went for hiding as much of it from view as I possibly could, haha. If you couldn’t tell by how sloppily I draw what you can see of it, it was a battle of its own for me to draw it I was getting really close to the deadline and I was in rush mode; though, I knew I still hadn’t done the cutiemarks yet by the time I finished … otherwise the image was done almost dead-on the deadline, haha. But you can’t forget those precious cutiemarks. They’re a hassle to draw sometimes, but they really add a lot. Or more, it takes a lot if you miss them were they should be, haha. Blank-flank Lyra or Bon Bon, especially from these poses, would stick out like a sore hoof
But yeah, I don’t think I’ve gone for a pun/joke before for the romantic promts, so I wanted to this time. Of course the “ship” one is sure to have been done to death, so I wanted something at least a bit different from that. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if others came up with this idea too, I mean “Battleship,” it just kinda’ works perfectly for this prompt xD
And despite the rushed nature of this one, I’d say it came out just fine. The Battleships game looks kinda’ messy, but it still conveys the idea of Battleship alright, I think. Bon Bon’s front hooves look a little off, and her head looks mishappen to me. And Lyra’s closest hoof, the one to her muzzle, looks a little bent out of place as well
But it definitely could’ve gone a whole lot worse with my rushing.
