Besides, with the Shinigami’s gauge, I can always know when to reload before I run out. Wasn’t it you who said that a guardian’s weapon is an extension of themselves? Now my weapon knows me, and I know it. Plus, when did a little more kick ever hurt anything?”

Nika Var; a determined, unafraid, and optimistic Warlock of the Last City on Equus. Her body was found deep in the bowels of Venus by her ghost before she was revived and inserted into the role of a protector of the light. She, like so many Guardians before her, has no memory of her previous life. Despite having no memory, Nika took well to her new role on Equus. Her light reflected that of a Voidwalker, giving her control over the void and all inside of it.

Personality: Nika is a very outgoing mare, who favors adventure and excitement. Nothing is worse for her than a dull day lounging around the Tower. Her courage and innate ability to lead often lands her as the spearhead on her Fireteam, to her immense enjoyment. But her optimism can change to aggression and frustration in a split second the moment things go sour. At the sight of something that might overpower her or her fireteam, she becomes reckless and impulsive, but these occasions are quite rare. Generally, Nika is a dynamic and confident pony who loves to show off and pull her friends through any struggle. That being said, sometimes she can be seen as controlling or brash, but she really does mean the best.
 
Backstory: Still unknown to even Nika herself, her life before wasn’t so far from her life now. Mere years before, Nika was the daughter of an Awoken Guard and warbird technician. She grew into the shoes of her mother and followed her into service of Queen Mara. At the battle of the Twilight Gap, Nika stepped forward to aid the Awoken in defeating the Fallen House of Wolves. In the aftermath of the battle, her ship was knocked out of the slipstream of lightspeed travel and crash landed on Venus. Left battle-wounded and stranded, Nika traveled deep into the Ishtar Academy to seek refuge. But instead of refuge, she discovered the Vex and was subdued by the all too powerful machines. In his travels to find his Guardian, her Ghost, who she lovingly nicknames Ecto, he took a chance on Venus, where he discovered her remains deep in the planet’s tunnels. While she has no memory of her previous life, she is recognized by both Queen Mara and Petra Venj, who both remain silent of Nika’s true origin. This recognition is what gained Nika favor in her and her fireteam’s quest for the Black Garden.
 
Relationships: Nika has grown quite fond of her Fireteam that she’s gained over the years. As one of the first Guardians of her team, she takes their “training” under her own supervision (much to the annoyance of many of her teammates).
 
-She feels the closest kinship to Stonewall, the Defender Titan of the team. Stonewall can be shy at times, and needed help from Nika to be a little more confident and outgoing. Many times, Nika states that she feels her and Stonewall could have been siblings.
 
-Unknown to Nika, her relationship to the Awoken Monarchy has granted her and her team access into the Awoken world that many guardians had tried, and failed, to attain. Through her connection to the Sov family, she recruited two new guardians, also fellow Awoken of the Reef and Earth.  
-Despite her love for her fireteam, she often will get into rows with Variance, Gunslinger Hunter of the group. His somewhat pessimistic take on things can infuriate Nika faster than anything else. Despite that, she still grudgingly looks out for him, regardless of his insistence that he doesn’t need her “bossy babysitting”.
