Description:

The prompt this time was “Draw a pony moving / Draw a pony in action.” I decided that the best way to do this was to fire Trixie out of a cannon (me and logic are not on the best of terms )Some self-critiques: I realize that Trixie’s cloak and the cannon are supposed to have a very starry design on them, but I ended up not doing it because it’s fairly likely that I would screw those details up if I tried doing it with pencil. Getting the stars on the helmet to not look horribly misshapen (without having a visible pentagon in the center) was enough of a stretch, getting the multi-layered design would probably just result in a mess that has more eraser marks than pencil . It’s a bit of a cop-out, but I would probably end up doing them digitally later. On a much simpler note, I’m not 100% sure how exactly Trixie’s head is supposed to attach to her torso from that angle. This is my best guess at it, but I still feel like it doesn’t look right.I was intending to do every day of the Artist Training Ground, but I ended up being busy on day 1 and didn’t finish it on time. I have a partially drawn Applejack in my sketchpad which will probably be posted when I get the time to draw her legs out (I think the artwork fails to qualify for “Draw a pony standing” on that basis alone).
