Bad End AU- Prologue: Darkness Rises.

So yeah, this is the new origin of the AU, i’m thinking about making the prologue in 4 parts, one for each princess.

I was never too happy with how i made it first, idk i thought it made Luna look a bit dumb for her actions? I’m happier with this approach and i hope i made it a little better , and that all of you like it C:

Some notes: This whole AU begins at the end of season 4, when Tirek and Discord ally. I also took some liberties with what is and how the Tantabus works, in the show the Tantabus can only infect dreams if someone dreams with another pony and so on, but here i thought of the dream realm as a hub that the Tantabus can infect at once. Also the Tantabus here is pure nightmares and dark magic, a remnant of the magic that corrupted Luna.

They were desperate, incredibly desperate.

The princesses of the sun, night and love had trusted the newest princess Twilight to keep their magic safe, it could be seen as egoistical to put such task in her, but without the elements they couldn’t do much. Luna had raised the moon early that day before giving up her magic to Twilight and biding her farewell, she had wished she could have said more to her but the threat of Tirek had only grown bigger and stronger now that Discord, who they had foolishly trusted, had joined him barring most of Equestria of the magic of the three tribes, and the princesses knew they came next in line. They couldn’t risk Twilight’s safety.

The usually cool air of the night now felt thick with fear and Luna lamented this greatly, her kingdom was terrified, yet there was nothing she could do. For the first time in millennia, she went to sleep without control of the dreams.

She stood in what once was the throne room of the castle of the two sisters, and she understood she was in that dreaded and recurrent dream of becoming Nightmare Moon. And so Luna spotted it, the Tantabus, an amalgamation of dark magic and the remnant remainder of the parasitic entity of Nightmare Moon. The princess was prepared ,today more than ever she deserved that nightmare, a pang of guilt spread on her chest, she had never wanted her people to feel as scared as it felt now again.

Luna felt her dream crumble around her leaving her in the dream realm, a place so familiar but in which she didn’t hold any power tonight, it was overflowing with darkness. Her ears were filled with the cries and screams of ponies experiencing the most horrible nightmares, she had seen it before, when Discord first drowned Equestria with his chaos, when Tirek had attacked the first time,…when she had turned to darkness and the nightmares filled her with joy and power when the little ponies saw her moon in place of her sister’s sun.

…and then she heard a laugh, a mocking laugh she knew well.

The Tantabus had changed its form from a little blob to what resembled a pony, and alicorn. Luna watched in shock as it was growing even more, feeding from the other ponies nightmares, she knew it would escape the dream realm if it keep doing it, but she couldn’t do anything, her powers were gone, and that only helped her guilt grow. Now another evil was emerging and it was her fault, for keeping that bit of dark magic to torment her, for not keeping her kingdom safe, she thought of her sister, her niece Cadance, Twilight, her friends, it was unbearable, she crumbled to the floor, sobbing for them all. The dark form towered over her , the black magic pulsing, consuming everything in the realm of dreams, and watching Luna with her own eyes, full of malice and pride and wishes of vengeance.

The princess of night felt an ocean of dark magic around her, drowning her, she tried to thrash around to escape, but It was dragging her down and deeper in a living nightmare. Years ago this had happened too but in that time she had felt and immense power surging through her veins promising her they would rule Equestria together. Now she felt terrified, she would never come back, she couldn’t fight back, and at last, she closed her turquoise eyes in the darkness.

And in the real world those turquoise eyes opened, but they didn’t belong to Luna anymore. Nightmare Moon was back.
